Lena the Artist

It is really interesting to watch her paint as she mixes and chooses colors and how she applies the paint.  She is very deliberate.
One of the things Dan and I really looked forward to about raising Lena is getting to know her personality.  One thing that has become extremely apparent to everyone who knows her is that she has strong artistic sensibilities.  She LOVES to do art.  She will color, paint, and sketch anywhere with anything whenever she can.  I noticed a long time ago that her attention span for drawing was much longer than other kids
For this one she said, "Look!  It's Daddy!"  "See?  Big nose!"
Right now my little artist is going through her watercolor abstract/impressionistic period. While she uses all the colors she definitely favors black which I think is a little unique for a two year old.  She also really loves the vibrancy of colored pencils.  She likes to really cover every inch of her pages.  She also prefers blank paper to coloring books full of images.  She like to be creative and I love that about her.
For this one she said, "Look Mom!  I draw Daddy!"  "See?  Big head!"
She is drawing more purposefully lately.
After the 4th of July she did chalk drawings of fireworks a lot.
This is her chalk drawing of "Mommy" 35 weeks pregnant (and some fireworks next to me).
She likes stamps but they are not her favorite medium.

I once read of a cool project where you take a print of your favorite painting and have your child replicate it. They framed them and hung them side by side. Super cute! :)

That's awesome! Kaylee has very little patience for art and almost never wants to color. She likes to paint but really just prefers to make a mess with her hands.
