28 Week Belly Shot (in my new JCP "tall length" full belly panel maternity jeans) Can I get an AMEN tall girls out there!? |
Today also starts my countdown till maternity leave. While no official decision has been made most likely I will not return to my teaching position after Baby Shack is born. Yes, we will most likely try to take the plunge and become a ONE INCOME family. In Southern California that is pretty rare and not an easy task. I have promised myself (and Dan) that I will become a frugal, coupon clipping housewife! I am already well acquainted with our neighborhood thrift store and have begun baking our own bread (who knew how easy this was!) and cooking more meals at home rather than going out. I have invested in cloth diapers and begun to acquaint myself with how to make your own baby food. I am really looking forward to this transition that will happen in just 8 short weeks (October 28th)! (Any and all advice, tips, and encouragement welcome!)
Halloween is my first day of maternity leave and I am so glad I don't have to teach on that day. Most teachers HATE teaching on Halloween which is just as bad as teaching on a rainy day in So. Cal- when kids are SOOO distracted because "Oh my gosh, there is like water coming from the sky!!!" And if there happens to be thunder and lightning, well you just might as well give up! Halloween is also the date of our next big ultrasound at 36 weeks where the doctor will check to see what position the baby is in. At my last check up this past Monday Dr. B said everything looks great! My blood pressure was 122/80, my weight was only up 4 pounds from my visit four weeks ago, the baby's heart was beating strong, and everything was measuring just right. I am so blessed! Dan and I have taken advantage of the BabiesRUs Great Trade-in Event that is going on right now. We have picked up some really cheap (like $3-$4) old baby items from the thrift store and then traded them in for 25% off coupons to purchase a few larger items off our registry. This travel lite crib by Graco is one of the few items we purchased. It is hard to believe that in just 12 short weeks Baby Girl Shack will be sleeping next to me in this cute little crib!

I think it's great that you are going to give staying home on one income a go! That's our goal as well if God blesses us with our take home baby. I pray it all works out for you!
When I left my job to stay home, one thought persisted: There is not one thing I have had to give up that would make me want to go back to work instead of stay home and do this job. And it's the hardest job I've ever done, and it's still worth it. I'm glad you get the privilege of doing that-like you said, it's not always an option for people, and definitely something to be thankful for as you say!
We'll never stop being thankful for baby Shack. God has blessed us and we are praying that all goes super well in the next few weeks. Can't wait to meet her.
Yay!!!!! God will enable you to meet and enjoy your goal of being a stay home mommy! It IS the most wonderful job ever! :)
I've started doing some serious coupon shopping lately in efforts to be frugal. Knocked our grocery budget down by 50%.
www.fabulesslyfrugal.com is my favorite. there might be one that focusses mostly on your area too.
Better stock up on bows and cute accessories now! =)
Seriously though, it's so rewarding to be able to stay home with your child. Glad you'll be able to!
12 Weeks!!!! I'm super excited!!
Wow, so many big (good) changes coming up!
I didn't realize JCP has "tall" maternity pants! Good to know. :)
So excited for you. And so excited to hear you will be doing cloth. I switched to cloth when our son was 1 and have done it pretty much exclusively for our daughter. If you have any questions...please ask away...there is soooo much out there but it really is quite simple and I love it!!!!!
And...your Oct31st first day of Maternity leave is the exact day of my maternity leave last year before having my embryo donated daughter....I totally got all nostalgic when I read that.
Enjoy this last trimester (even though physically it is pretty darn umcomfortable)....but the planning and prepping is totally fun!!!

I am so excited for you, less than 3 months and baby Shack will be in your arms! You look great...your looking pregnant to me! I won't lie, the transition to one-income isn't easy, but it is certainly worth it! Being a stay-at-home mommy is the most difficult, yet most rewarding job I've ever done. I have info for all the free and discounted "kid" activities in the area. You will have to come over and I can share all the secrets. ;) We can clip coupons together at the park, too. I have a lil group that walks (with strollers) in the area as well.
Hi Friend!
You look pregnant AND gorgeous.
Take care of you and Baby Shack! (You have been caring for hundreds' of other peoples' kids, now it's your baby's turn.)
SAHM it all the way. 100% support. Enjoy it, my baby is already establishing her own world, and it's going so fast. It really is. Just enjoy every minute of it. (And reach out on occasion when you don't.) Love to you and family! Anna
